LOWCOUNTRY HUMAN RESOURCES HOLDS ANNUAL CONFERENCE

The Lowcountry community is no stranger to the labor shortage seen across the country. Businesses that are struggling to find and keep qualified employees should consider attending the Lowcountry Human Resources Association’s annual conference, titled “Recruiting and Retaining Employees in a Tight Labor Market.” The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at Palmetto Electric Cooperative, 1 Cooperative Way, Hardeeville. J. BANKS DESIGN PROJECT EARNS TOP HONORS

J. Banks Design Group-designed John’s Island Club in Vero Beach, Florida, was selected as the first-place winner in the Private Club Remodel category by Golf Inc. magazine in its annual Clubhouse Competition. The contest annually recognizes the best new and renovated clubhouses in the United States and internationally. J. Banks designed the interiors of the 50,500-square-foot club.

COASTAL CAROLINA HOSPITAL DONATES HIGH TECH TO TCL

Coastal Carolina Hospital recently donated an OEC mobile C-Arm to the radiologic science program at the Technical College of the Lowcountry. The C-Arm machine is used in operating rooms across the country and visualizes surgical patients’ anatomy in real time during critical surgical procedures. TCL students now can train side by side with their peers in a simulated laboratory environment.

J. BANKS WELCOMES NEW TEAM MEMBERS

J. Banks Design Group recently promoted one and hired several new staff members to its commercial support department.

Amanda Ives, Allied ASID, was promoted to design support manager of the company’s residential and commercial support teams. Previously, Ives managed the residential support staff, where she assisted with property management and scheduling for the firm’s hospitality projects.

ART LEAGUE ADDS GALLERY ASSISTANT

Chloe Butler has joined the Art League of Hilton Head team as its gallery assistant. In her new role, Butler will provide administrative support in the gallery, working alongside the general manager to coordinate daily tasks and facilitate artist correspondence. Previously, Butler has worked for a variety of businesses, ranging from a multi-partner law firm to independent art publications. She has a bachelor’s degree in art history and linguistics from Missouri State University.

THE GREENERY MARKS 45 YEARS WITH TOP AWARD

Ten years after employees took over the company, The Greenery Inc. has won the 2018 Employee-Owned Company of the Year award from The Employee Stock Owners Plan Association-Carolinas Chapter for North and South Carolina. The company will now represent the chapter in a nationwide contest for the Best in America title, to be presented in May in Washington, D.C.

MOSS CREEK NAMES NEW DIRECTOR OF GOLF

The Moss Creek Club has recently welcomed Tom Logue as its new director of golf. Logue is a Class A member of the PGA with 18 years of experience, and has been with the Moss Creek Club since 2008. Prior to his promotion, he held the position of head golf professional. He has an associate degree in golf complex organizations and management, with an emphasis in golf management, from the Golf Academy of the South. Logue was selected by his peers as the 2012 and 2017 Hilton Head Island Chapter Golf Professional of the Year. He lives in Bluffton with his wife and two sons.

SENIOR HELPERS OPENS NEW HILTON HEAD FACILITY

Senior Helpers, a national provider of personalized in-home senior care, will open a new facility franchise on Hilton Head Island. Senior Helpers will bring up to 50 new jobs to the region, including professionally trained caregivers who will help local seniors continue to enjoy the comfort of their own home, despite age-related illnesses and mobility challenges. THE HERITAGE LIBRARY MOVES TO NEW LOCATION

The Heritage Library, an all-volunteer organization dedicated to history and ancestry research, has a new office location. Its new space at 2 Corpus Christi Place on Hilton Head Island will allow the organization to continue exceptional history research and expert ancestry resources. The previous location on William Hilton Parkway is now closed.

HILTON HEAD SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA MOVES TO NEW HOME

The Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra has joined forces with The Richardson Group and is moving to a new location in Coligny Plaza. The new space will be at 7 Lagoon Road and will also house the symphony orchestra’s offices, as well as serve as an event space for the community — it’s ideal for intimate events like recitals, small interactive concerts and theatre productions. The symphony orchestra expects the new space to open in early summer.
