FUSION FIT BLUFFTONKICKS OFF WORKOUTS

Fusion Fit Bluffton is a new group training program of 45-minute workouts that encompass strength, metabolic training, and movement to help people burn fat and boost metabolism, lose weight and get lean, toned and fit. The small group, strength-training based workouts are offered at Move Fitness in Bluffton and Wellness Institute Physical Therapy in Okatie.

ADVANCED AESTHETICS ACADEMY OPENS IN HARDEEVILLE

Advanced Aesthetics Academy, owned by Heidi Daly, has opened on Dermis Avenue in Hardeeville. The academy will offer instruction in aesthetic treatments, clinical rotations and elements of running a spa like client service, inventory and retailing. Students will earn more than 450 hours of training and will be able to apply for licensure as an aesthetician. Daly is a longtime resident of Hilton Head Island who has been an aesthetics instructor for nine years. Enrollment is open now. 

SEA PINES SELECTS ARCHITECT, CELEBRATES INSTRUCTOR

Sea Pines Country Club has selected golf course architect Phil Smith to create a masterplan for its Arnold Palmer-designed Club Course. Smith has more than 30 years of experience working with PGA Tour and golf course design legends Jack Nicklaus and Tom Weiskopf. He has led numerous high-profile renovations, including a complete redesign of the Phoenician Golf Club. 

SPRENGER HEALTH CARE OPENS IN BLUFFTON

Sprenger Health Care Systems, a skilled nursing and assisted living community in Bluffton, celebrated its grand opening in March. Sprenger Health Care Bluffton offers a skilled nursing wing with 60 private rooms and 45 private assisted-living apartments. In addition, it offers a 3,000-square-foot state-of-the-art therapy gym, multiple gourmet eateries including a pub and lounge, plus an outdoor enclosed patio with fireplace. Sprenger Health Care has locations throughout Ohio, Indiana and South Carolina.

PURE BARRE HILTON HEAD HAS NEW OWNER

Jenna Irvin is the new owner of Pure Barre Hilton Head in Shelter Cove. She graduated from High Point University with a degree in sports management and purchased the studio after moving to Hilton Head Island after graduation. She previously was the owner of a Pure Barre studio in Frederick, Maryland.

COURT ATKINS WINS HONORS

Court Atkins Group has been awarded four prestigious 2018 AIA Awards from the American Institute of Architects. The firm won accolades from Hilton Head AIA chapter across six categories, including Honor Awards for a private transitional resort home in Moreland Village at Palmetto Bluff and, on the commercial side, for the state-of-the-art Lowcountry Kennel. The residential team earned AIA Merit awards for two projects: an expansive contemporary home in Barge Landing in Palmetto Bluff (pictured here) and conceptual plans for Longfields compound.

COFFEYKUBEC LAW FIRM OPENS

Law firm CoffeyKubec, LLP has opened on Hilton Head Island with three attorneys: Maureen T. Coffey, Ed Kubec and Leighanne Kubec. The firm specializes in civil litigation, criminal defense, business law, personal injury, family law, immigration law and special education law. Coffey previously worked for 18 years as municipal court judge for the Town of Hilton Head Island. Ed Kubec started his law practice in Los Angeles, where for 15 years he represented performing artists and companies in the entertainment industry. Leighanne Kubec specializes in the education rights of special needs student.

Lamb & Gray Architects, LLC launches in the Lowcountry 

New firsm Lamb & Gray Architects, L.L.C. is comprised of Amanda Lamb (AIA, NCARB), April Gray (AIA, NCARB) and Lydia DePauw. With over 45 years of combined experience in architecture, Lamb & Gray’s current work includes high-end residential projects in award-winning properties including Palmetto Bluff and Spring Island. They are members of the Hilton Head Area Homebuilders Association and the Hilton Head chapter of the American Institute of Architects. 

COURT ATKINS GROUP WELCOMES NEW TEAM MEMBERS

Michael Moss and Preston Bussard have joined the firm at Court Atkins Group as senior architects. Tim Hazelbaker, Chris Rivalsky and Sara Cannon have also joined the team.

Moss, a project architect at the firm’s Hilton Head Island studio, has worked with notable national firms including Wade Weissman Architecture of Santa Barbara and Historical Concepts of Atlanta. He specializes in historical preservation and has been recognized by the Missouri Historical Society and by the annual Palladio Awards for his traditional designs.

HILTON HEAD HOSPITAL NAMES NEW WOMEN’S SERVICE DIRECTOR

Jodie Mays has been named the new Women’s Services Director for Hilton Head Hospital. In her new role, Mays will be responsible for labor and delivery, postpartum and nursery services at Hilton Head Hospital. Previously, Mays worked in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah and Coastal Carolina Hospital in Hardeeville. She has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from McKendree University and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Cincinnati.
